Passion is the energy that keeps us going, keeps us filled with meaning, joy, excitement, and anticipation. My passion for coral reefs and marine ecosystems began at the age of 6. I felt like Captain Nemoy as I stood transfixed by the myriad shapes, colors, and variety of fish and coral contained in the display tanks at the Shedd Aquarium.
The spark and passion was further stoked the second this transplant nestled my toes into the sand and saltwater of the Lowcountry in South Carolina. After countless SCUBA diving trips, studying marine science and coastal zone management in college, and enjoying my own "slice of the reef" with saltwater aquariums over the past 10 years, my passion for coral reefs continues to grow.
